Ice Skating Lessons...help? Hey, I live in Sussex. I have tried so hard to find a private figure skating instructor, by searching online and I havent had any luck at all. My nearest ice rink is at Gillingham, in Kent, I filled in their online application for information on a group course, but still no reply. Im at universtiy in London, and tried the ones round there, e-mailing the private instructors but not one got back to me. I would love to start again I havent done it in ages but I did used to learn when I was younger, just not sure what grade I got up too... im 19 by the way. x

Complete Beginner learning to ice-skate? I am doing the Duke of Edinburgh award. I was original going to ride my horse for my Physical Activity, but he is lame, and I couldn't ride my own one for lessons. I am also not keen on the idea of lessons at my grandparents. So, I am considering ice-skating A rink near us, and one of my ambitions is to skate at Somerset House in London at Christmas time. I can ski, but I tried ice-skating once, and it was in a tiny, tiny rink for about 5 minutes. There was no room to do anything but shuffle, no proper movement. I find it a little scary, but I desperately want to learn. I need to improve my balance, and the strength in my legs. Do you think lessons will be expensive? What exercises can I do to improve my skating? How can I tell whether I will be good at it or not?

Where can I buy roller skates in London (not inline ones)? I would love a pair of old fashioned roller skates (I think they are referred to as quad skates), either the ones that look like white ice skates or the coloured 70s roller disco look - (NOT the heavy duty plastic ones that look like inline skates, but with four wheels) I don't mean the ones that strap on - full skates - as per my descriptions. What ice skates should I buy, and can anyone recommend a good supplier?? Hi there , I've just started ice skating lessons and have just completed my uk skate level 3. I have currently been using the hire skates at the arena where I have my lesson but considering it costs £2 a time and I'm going ice skating 3 times a week I have told myself if I pass my assessment this Thursday my treat is going to be to buy myself my own skates and hopefully in the long run save some money. Trouble is I have no ideal what sort of skates I should be looking for and dont want to buy a pair that are too advanced for me. I dont really have a budget limit as I'm happy to pay whatever will result in me having a half decent pair of skates. Can anyone recommend a make, type or style of skate I should be after. I know I dont really want hockey skates I would prefer figure skates. Also if you no a good website or supplier (I live in London) that would be great. Many thanks for your help Hayley x

Which ice skates to buy? Right now, I have Risport Laser skates with club 2000 blades. I took grade 1 in Skate UK about 3 years ago and have only just got back into skating (about to start grade 4) but I'm certain that I want to carry on skating, so I really want to find some skates that will be most effective for me. I don't need skates right now, but perhaps after a couple more levels... Please recommend ice skates to me (preferably Risport or a similar brand) that would be the best for me to buy for Skate UK 6/7 onwards that aren't too expensive. And should I keep the blades and just buy new boots, or buy new blades too? If you can give me a reliable and good value shop (online or around London area) that would really help too... Good price figure skating lessons? Heyy, Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions about modeling and ice skating:). I have another problem the ice skating arena near me which is Streatham ice arena is a lot of money for group lessons for six weeks which start novemeber 15th its 50 pounds and the lessons are only for half an hour. And for patchice lessons its 36 pounds for each lesson its 4:30 till seven? I dont think these lessons are good prices I dont know I really want to do lessons but this is a bit high..and seems not worth it but I need to do lessons. Do you know of any ice skating arenas that do lessons?..for a good price I cant go to far out like Croydon, Streatham, local or if you know of any in Central London?.
