How can I gain good balance ice skating?
I already know about look forward while your skating and and bend your need and put you hand on them but is there something my ice skateing teacher arn't showing me???? Today was the first time I ice skated(just got my first lesson)I need help keeping balnce

- No, your coach pretty much told you all you need to know at the moment. I presume they also told you to hold your arms out (but relaxed) as if you have them resting on a table in front of you? And yes, bending your knees is the most important thing you will learn as a skater! It will come in time - pretty soon you'll be learning to do one foot glides, which to be honest is a lot more about balance than now. At the moment you are learning how to navigate a very slippery surface, and I always think it is more about getting used to your blades than balance. When you are skating forward, it can help to think of pushing your feet right down into the ice, through the balls of your feet. That way, your weight stays over the right part of the blade constantly and you should feel a little more stable. Just take it slowly, and you will start feeling more comfortable in no time!
- they told you pretty much all you need to know. holding your hands in front of you also helps when your first learning. try to keep your knees bent and watch where you are going -- but you learned that. practice makes perfect -- the perfect saying when it comes to ice skating. just keep at it and then you'll learn what you do that makes you fall and learn to avoid doing it. have fun ice skating =]
- the more you skate the better your balance. In time you will develop strong abs. These muscles are formed by just simply standing on the ice. You might not be aware of it but by just standing on the ice you are using your abs. But i would also recommend if you are willing to do things like yoga and pilates as off ice training for balance. especially pilates as it really enhances the abs
