What kind of cloth should I use to dry my ice skating blades?

I currently use a small towel (kind of like one to dry your hands with I guess) to wipe off my ice skating blades after use. Is this adequate, or should I be using something different?

  1. That's perfectly fine. As long as it gets the ice off, it's great. There's these special chamois cloths for skates but they aren't a whole lot better. As long as you put soakers on the skates after you wipe the ice off, your blades are being cared for properly.
  2. As long as the cloth wipes the water away, it's fine. Some people use paper towels, others use car chamois. (They think the chamois leaves behind a layer of oil, thereby protecting the blades from rust. I don't think it's true.) After you dry the skates (boots and blades), put soakers on to absorb and wick away any condensation.
  3. thatss fine i just use a kitchen towell :L HAVE FIN ICE SKATINGG :D xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  4. That's fine. I just use a rag from the hall closet... 0;) I was curious and tried a chamois once, to see if it was really better or not... I honestly think the rag is just fine, as long as you're getting your skates dry with it. The rags are a lot cheaper than the $35 it costs for a chamois; you can just keep reusing and rewashing the rags, too.
  5. If you have like fleece covers that go over your blades that would also work or just a regular hand towel.
  6. yes it is! I have only been skating for a while, but when I get off the ice I wipe my skates with a hand towel. Then when I get home I put my blade soakers on! :) x
